Anorexia, Real Housewives??

Maybe this is their natural build...Not sure???

My cousin told me about a show called "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" she was raving about it. So I watched it while doing laundry.

What?? It's a bunch of wining, rich, I don't know why they are on a show---show. My cousin talked about it like it was enriching her life somehow and how neat these people where. Shw wants me to find out who Big Popa is? IDK what she is talking about.

I LOVE Bravo but I need to keep watching to get into this one. This is my opinon of course.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

We drove almost 6 hours to my hometown to spend Thanksgiving with the family. I ate myself into a Turkey coma, watched the Macy's parade, b.s'ed with various family members (some drunk, some not) and we drove around to look at how much the town has changed.

Verdict? Not much.

Same thing goes with my Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. You know what I'm talking about, everyone has at least one crazy Aunt, drunk Uncle, cousin that tries to bullsh** you into a pyramid scheme and you can't forget about grandma who talks about nothing but her current health crisis. Add a bunch of racist and that makes up my side but I love them and are thankful for what they bring to my life.

Of course it does say something that we live almost a state away from all this madness. I can take it for the Holidays and over the phone but, when I lived there it was too much to handle some times. They fight about little things and talk smack behind each others backs. The fun time started when listening to my crazy Aunts thoughts about the current economic crisis. It was G-R-E-A-T!!

She is convinced if Wayne Newton is in Obama's cabinet he will bring economic stability (because he owns a ranch in Vegas and has property over the world he knows how to handle money) and new ideals on how to stop the war. Her proof? Mr. Newton would make peace by singing for the UN and terrorist organizations. He does it for the troops so apparently his voice and performance would woo them?

I LOVE her!!!

Here is part of our trip back home through the Blue Mesa Reservoir (biggest in Colorado) and now that we are back I'm gonna go do laundry--- ya fun!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

Truman Syndrome??

One man showed up at a federal building, asking for release from the reality show he was sure was being made of his life. Another was convinced his every move was secretly being filmed for a television contest. A third believed everything — the news, his psychiatrists, the drugs they prescribed — was part of a phony, stage-set world with him as the involuntary star, like the 1998 movie The Truman Show.Researchers have begun documenting the "Truman syndrome", a delusion under which people are convinced their lives are secretly playing out on reality TV. Scientists say the disorder underscores the influence pop culture can have on mental conditions.

"The question is really: is this just a new twist on an old paranoid or grandiose delusion … or is there sort of a perfect storm of the culture we're in, in which fame holds such high value?" said Joel Gold, a psychiatrist affiliated with New York's Bellevue Hospital.

Over two years, Dr Gold said he encountered five patients with delusions related to reality TV. Several of them specifically mentioned The Truman Show. Dr Gold and his brother Ian, a psychologist in Montreal, started presenting their observations at medical schools in 2006. They have since learned of about 50 more people with similar symptoms.

Meanwhile, researchers in London described a "Truman syndrome" patient in the British Journal of Psychiatry in August. The 26-year-old postman "had a sense the world was slightly unreal, as if he was the eponymous hero in the film", the researchers wrote.

The Oscar-nominated movie stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, who leads a merrily uneventful life until he realises his friends and family are actors, his seaside town is a television sound stage and every moment of his life has been broadcast.

This a real mental illness and for some it seems to be not only a way out but a lifetime of blaming the "producers" for a crappy existence.

And I keep wondering why the drug/insurance business is booming!

Some new video I found on youtube while looking for my brothers...

My mom and brother made this when they came up this summer. Shes the hot mama in the video!

Getting excited!

I *LOVE* the holidays and decorating for them. I know totally girlie but, I just love it. I'm going to put up our trees this weekend because I got a job (YAY) and will be busy the upcoming week.

I have a tradition when putting up the trees. My daughter, brother, cousin and I do it together, drink eggnog and listen to Christmas music. I can't wait till they come up and they stay with us.

I love wreaths too. Pretty, fluffy, beautiful wreaths. I can't decide which wreaths to put up, please help! Here are some pictures-- vote for your favorites.

Very decorated...

Ladies & Gentleman.. Mark Mathis....

My brother knows I crack up when people laugh. So, I'm not laughing at the fall I'm laughing at the newscaster.

I was laughing so hard and I don't even understand what language they are speaking.

Ski My IPOD

Welcome to winter baby! A friend of mine works the lifts and I got to visit!

It was great, of course I will have multi- bruises but, it was well worth it! I didn't take my nice camera because it would have gotten smashed during one of my many kissing the mountain episodes, so this is from my phone.

I took my IPOD shuffle because it's one tough cookie. I didn't turn it on till later in the day when I was trying to muster any courage I had to tackle some greens! On the scary ride down I pondered if every one's was a varied as mine. Here are some on mine...

And the list continues on but, my hands are still cold so I'm gonna start a fire and drink hot coco. Have a great weekend!

San Fran Documentary

We were watching a Documentary about suicide and the Golden Gate Bridge. Unsettling as it seems, it was pretty interesting.

Cameras were set up around the bridge and filmed for 365 days. People came from all over the world just to jump of the bridge. It sounds like a gruesome doc but it's not- I promise.

It gave light to why it's such a romantic bridge for these people. Again, sounds weird but you would have to watch to see what I'm talking about.

When I was younger we drove over the bridge and around San Fran it's self. I want to go again sooo bad. I think that's where our next trip will be. Here are some pics to satisfy me in the mean time.

Changes to me...

I've all but abandoned my blogher but now I'm gonna use it wisely. I've gained a whole lotta weight and I don't want to get shot and stuffed for Thanksgiving. So, I decided to use my blogher account as accounting for the food I eat and exercise I do.

Pre-baby:

Post-baby:

I think my butt region is declaring war on the rest of my body and is the size of CANADA! The main thing is I get winded easier than I ever did. It's not good I'm fairly active and I gotta shape it up.

On another note....

*Rush Limbough called Obama a thug. I wonder if he calls his illegal drug dealer that too.

*I'm obsessed with HGTV and demand to bring back Homes Across America- Joe Riggerio where did you go?

*Hunting for a job is harder than having a 10-hour-a-day-job.

*I cannot believe a Mormon traveled all the way to my doorstep. WOW that's dedication! I gave him water.

*My friend is going through a divorce and I can't help her :(

This is AWESOME!!

Happy Veterans Day! To all the troops thank you for all you do so, I can write what I think and fight for freedom here.

So, I have a friend that told me about this collection of books, yes plural. I went on a trip to the bookstore and found them. They book made me cry, laugh, get angry, be at peace. They are Frank Warrens Post secrets books (in various titles). People mail in postcards that have secrets on them and Frank publishes them. He now has a website www.postsecrets.blogspot.com.

I think it's a great idea and some of them actually made me cry, it was insane! They are anonymous so, they are truthful and raw. More than one I read gave me shivers one said "When you look at me you see through me, and I hate it." I can't get that out of my head. I don't know why maybe I connect to what these people are saying out loud that I could never say.

Sometime it's easier to talk to strangers than to your best friends. Maybe that's why I like this blogging thing so much. I don't know anybody personally on here, so it's easier for me to say things that my much more republican, rich, great looking "friends" would tolerate me to say.

I moved here 3 years ago and fell into this circle of friends that are super trendy, beautiful, rich and that's where I have to stay. I know some of you are going to say well you can find others. They are really nice and laid back so it's not like I do not like them but, I only have a couple of girls out of the circle that are really my friend and know my deepest secrets. These are the friends that have moved here too but are from the town we grew up in.

It's the family I come from. They are extreme, extremely, extremist, have-to-be perfect family. They have money so they think anybody else is beneath them. I do not have much money. I currently do not have a steady job and I can't tell them I don't have that much money. If I ever told my mother this she would shit twice and die.

Moving on. Do you have any secrets? You can be anonymous if you would like.

Picures of my Heaven

Here is a picture that is not mine but, it shows Telluride and Mountain Village. When I'm trying to give relation to where Mountain Village is, it's much easier with a picture!

At night!

In Mountain Village, this is a picture of the gondola loading area. The gondola is free and runs even in the summer. You can take it to Telluride or to ski.

At Night!

This is the town of Telluride. At the end of town you can see Bridal Veil (waterfall).

Here they are- you can hike or drive. The driving is all 4 wheel drive terrain. the big ones are the Bridal Veil but there are several down below and coming off different sides of the mountains.

Here is a view from the falls facing towards the town of Telluride. If I need inspiration or a time out, this is where I go!

This is my casa. I Love this picture because the date says it all. We woke up and it was snowing...in summer! It didn't last long but it was great. Later that day it was 70 degrees.

1 Step forward 2 Giant Steps Back

I was on top of the moon when Obama was elected now, I crash landed into reality. Prop 8 in California says gay marriage is not legal. This passed?

I understand people are afraid of it changing what God sees as a "marriage/unity" and it would change the constitution. These are people that love each other, that build a life together, can't there be a way for their partners to still inherit their estates and any children? Can't we solve this and everyone be equal?

Then in another state (I won't mention because I'm very mad) they passed an amendment saying gay couples can not adopt children. WHAT? Especially in this state that is full of meth and crack heads, this is important. Forget giving them loving homes, these poor children are playing in rat feces and trash cans while their crack moms are passed out and that state is cool with it. *Karen wipes a tear*.

Yes I am religious, I'm not gay and I live in a very small town so, I should be alright with this but it makes me so upset and very angry. I hope that I'm alive to see when EVERYONE has rights.

Why are more people not mad and talking about this? I was getting some coffee and I overheard a conversation involving two gentlemen talking about how glad they were to have moved to Colorado because they used to live in that state and couldn't imagine what, as a couple, that would do to them. They were holding hands and at this point, tightened their grip as if they were trying to hold on to their freedom. I walked out with my eyes watering...

This is saying "Hey, limit your life and limit how much of a life you can share with someone you truly love". Half of all "marriages" end in divorce anyway.

I would love to get my hands on data saying what % of divorces, wife beaters and shamed pastors voted for these and then show them a mirror.

*Karen steps off soapbox*.

Kitchens al a Friday

I was making eggs this morning in my kitchen and thought I would see what other pretty kitchens were out there.

This is what our kitchen looks like. I'm not big on all the wood, that is a guy thing, I guess. I do like our lights (sorry the pic is a little fuzzy).

The different styles used in this kitchen makes it great.

I like the back splash used in this kitchen and they variances of color.

This one has a girly country feel about it, the light color is nice but I bet hard to clean!

This one I love by Candace Olsen. I usually do not like modern but this has a great feel to it.

Ahh, the red--yummy!

My generation...

WOW! How proud I'am of my country. I want to thank my generation for the change that happened last night. We now look past color, creed, gender and sexual orientation.

In American it is deeply divided by age. The older population alive before the civil rights movement still are very much racist, sexist and a large portion of the south still think this way. My generation does not care about anything but co existing with others, trying to make this world a better place and individuality.

I have people in my family that are very racist and still thinks Obama is a Muslim terrorist. I have to say I'm ashamed because they do not treat people fairly and rush to judgement. That's OK because my husband and I raise our child differently and we teach her to love everyone no matter what they look like.

You see, we are a bi racial couple. I'm a Swedish/Irish white women and my husband is a Hispanic man.

This is why I cried last night, at this historic moment, it means my daughter and her children will live in this loving world without barriers. To that, I'm so grateful for those of you who voted for change.

ELECTION DAY!

We are sitting on the cusp of change and hopefully or first minority will be elected. Something has to happen for the USA to regain it's footing and to become whole again.

I know in other countries having a minority elected is not a big deal because they are open to change. Here in 2008, for the first time, we have a real choice not just the same old white, ivy league, dinosours roaming around the white house.

For me and others, it is not just because he is black but because he actually had to make it for himself so he has been in all our positions on his way to the top. He understands what a terrible mess the global situation is and he will use technology not just "Hey drive big trucks, waste alot of gas, have more waste to produce and we will worry about it later" attitude.

I early voted that should tell you how I can not wait for change! For those of you around the world, stay tuned and hopefully we will be able to work together and make this world a better place for our grandchildren.

Random Pretties!

ENJOY!
